Charles A. Boike, an attorney at Simen, Figura & Parker, PLC in Flint, Michigan received the 2016 LSEM Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award at the Genesee County Bar Association Awards ceremony.
The Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award is bestowed by Legal Services of Eastern Michigan to a member of the Genesee County Bar Association who has unstintingly given freely and graciously of their time and energy to provide free legal assistance to those of modest means.
“We are proud to see the award that Charlie received as a Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for the Genesee County Bar Association,” said Patric Parker, Partner at Simen, Figura & Parker. “Our firm has a long history of public service, and Charlie is carrying that tradition on,” he continued.
About Legal Services of Eastern Michigan
The Legal Services of Eastern Michigan Pro Bono Unit has four primary functions that are utilized to assist clients in accessing the justice system. They are direct representation, advice clinics, financial contributions and miscellaneous projects. The Pro Bono Units objective is to support the overall services of the in-house staff and to assist clients who have civil issues that are not a LSEM priority. In general, a person must be at or near the poverty level in order to be eligible for assistance through the LSEM Pro Bono program.
About Charles A. Boike
Charles Boike’s practice includes litigation, general business law, and art and entertainment law. He is an associate of the firm.
Charles graduated with honors from Columbia College of Chicago with a bachelors of science in art, entertainment, and media management. He graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
In addition to his Pro Bono work, Charles is a member of the advisory committee to the Ruth Mott Foundation, the operations committee of Red Ink Flint, and the Greater Flint Arts Council Board of Directors. In his free time, he is a graphics artist, and has won several local and regional awards.
